Super Mario 3DS Set For Big E3 Unveil
As well as giving the new Zelda title a showing during his keynote speech at GDC, Iwata confirmed a new Super Mario title for the 3DS and hinted at a big unveil for E3.
A new Mario title is inevitable when it comes to new Nintendo consoles, but today, Satoru Iwata, President of Nintendo, confirmed the existence of a brand new Mario game exclusive to the Nintendo 3DS. Cryptic as ever, Mr. Iwata neglected to into detail about the new game heading to the 3DS, tentatively titles Super Mario for the time being, but stated that the game is currently being developed by EAD Tokyo, the team behind the fantastic Super Mario Galaxy titles on the Wii.
A few small screenshots were presented during his presentation, showing a game which looks strikingly similar in style to EAD Tokyo's Galaxy titles in terms of characters and environments. Also shown was a tentative logo for the game which sported a silhouetted tail coming off of the shadow of the 'O' in Mario, with Mr. Iwata explaining that all would become clear at this year's E3 event, scheduled to take place in early June.
Eagle-eyed gamers have already been quick to point out the resemblance to a raccoon's tail leaving the question of whether this new game could house of the Tanooki Suit.
We'll have to wait until E3 to find out for sure.

I mentioned Mario 64 because of the level design. Most of the levels in Mario Galaxy have floors and centered around gravity shift. From the images I have seem this focus on 3D platform instead of puzzle solving aspect of Galaxy. So it feels like Mario 64 running Galaxy's graphic engine.
Well the worlds seem very galaxy like. And in the temp logo- its got a little raccoon tail on the o-...well its not a raccoon tail, but it sort of sits on the O like that.
Looks more like Super Mario Galaxy to me in terms of visual quality as it's very close. And I'd be very happy if it was just Super Mario Galaxy 3D, and it does look like it may well be as there are Comet Coins in one of the small screens shown at the event.
Without seeing the video trailer, it just look like Mario 64. I should be excited about it but not yet to the level that a Mario title deserves. Too bad we won't see the game for another half a year or so.
