3DS European 3DS Release Info

Nintendo of Europe have just announced the release info for the Nintendo 3DS in Europe. Head inside for the details.

The new handheld, which features a fully 3D top screen display without the need for glasses, will be released in Europe on March 25th.

No price was given at the event, although the president of Nintendo of Europe did mention that pricing would be determined by retailers who had been supplied with a recommended retail price. This, however, could lead to drastically different prices in different countries. We'll try and bring you an official price point as soon as we can.

Launch titles were not mentioned, although it was confirmed that there will be 30 3DS titles available at or around the launch window and leading up to June, with games covering an assortment of genres giving something for everyone. No pricing was revealed for the games at the event either.

More information is expected in the coming hours so stay tuned to DS-x2 for the rest of the news as soon as it becomes available.

Update: Retailers are now beginnig to post potential prices for the 3DS across Europe. By in large, retailers in mainland Europe are listing the console at 250 Euros. In the UK, however, multiple prices are doing the rounds, with high street retailers GAME and HMV having the console listed for 229.99 and online retailer Play.com having the console listed for 219.99.

For now, it seems we'll all have to play the waiting game for the initial reaction to the release details to cool before we find out concrete prices across Europe.

  • Free game? I suppose the AR cards and Face Raider cover that, although I would have preferred a proper game to be honest. Still, I've got mine pre-ordered (first time I've pre-ordered anything ever) and I'm expecting retailers to slowly drop prices over the next few days until we hit a final price point, which I'm guessing will be £200 or just over it. I expect we'll get a launch lineup in the coming weeks.
