Sales from Ivy the Kiwi? in the UK to help save the Kiwi
Ahead of the launch of the video game Ivy the Kiwi? Publisher Rising Star Games has announced that for each purchase of Ivy the Kiwi? It will donate 10p towards the official Save the Kiwi charity.
The charity is sponsored by the Bank of New Zealand and aims to raise awareness about the plight of the Kiwi. The work they do towards helping the Kiwi also benefits other native New Zealand species.
"We're delighted to be able to announce our partnership with BNZ Save the Kiwi Trust," says Martin Defries, managing director, Rising Star Games. "It's great to be able to give something back to the bird that's the subject of our next game - Ivy the Kiwi? - and help work towards securing its future for years to come."
Michelle Impey, executive director of BNZ Save the Kiwi Trust is thrilled with the partnership. "We are thrilled not only for the financial support this partnership will offer, but also by the fact that this is helping us reach a new audience with our message. Kiwi are an amazing bird and have the same potential for global recognition and support as, for example, the panda and whale, and this is a great step to achieving that level of support."
Two hundred years ago numbers of Kiwi where in the millions, but by 1998 the numbers had dropped to 100,000 and only a few years ago in 2008 the numbers of Kiwi in New Zealand where 70,000.
To make a donation all you have to do is either buy the Nintendo Wii or Nintendo DS versions of the game released on the 29th of October 2010 in the UK.
