Wii Vitality Sensor - New details
New details on the Wii's Vitality Sensor have surfaced. Although we never heard from it since E3 2009, a recent patent disclosure reveals a few new interesting tidbits.
Our colleagues from found out that a recent patent filing discloses details on Nintendo's Wii Vitality Sensor. According to the patent, the sensor works on the detection of hemoglobin.
As Siliconera writes, the Vitality Sensor fires a light beam and caught by a photodetector on the other side ot the sensor. When your level of hemoglobin is high (caused by for example a higher heartrate or stress), less infrared light will reach the other side.
In the patent (and on Siliconera's site), a small game is also described using the Wii Vitality Sensor. Whether this description is the basis behind the earlier (quietly) announced Wii Relax, remains unknown for the moment.
