Blood of Bahamut won't see a Western release
The idea of the Nintendo DS title Blood of Bahamut in the West seems to have been stopped in its tracks after Square Enix appears to have ditched the idea.
Released in August 2009 in Japan, the title was on a slippery slope attracting sales during its first week (only managing 32,000). While launch figures were lower than expected it ended up sustaining a much more solid number during its life.
The title mentioned a western release even in its credits- but it seems that isn't to be.
Square Enix filed for a trademark of the title, but has decided to drop it. With the trademark now listed as abandoned.
It is possible the title will be released with a new name. But Square Enix has a history of not releasing its more adventurous IPs for the Nintendo DS. Such as Sigma Harmonics, Nanashi no Game (and its sequel), Front Mission: 2089, SaGa II and other titles.
Blood of Bahamut was built on a tweaked Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings engine, check out the original Japanese trailer for the game below to see what we will be missing out on.

It didn't sell well in Japan, I guess they decided to cut their losses.
