WII No More Heroes 2 set for May release in Europe

Rising Star Games has revealed that No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle will hit the European shelves on May 28.

Travis Touchdown, the pro-wrestling-obsessed assassin, returns three years after he first became the top assassin in the United Assassins Association (UAA) and walked away. Fighting to avenge the brutal murder of his best friend, Travis must rise through the ranks of an incredible 51 assassins to once again make it the top of the UAA league table.

But it won't be easy as there are more deadly bosses than ever before. To prepare gamers with the tools to make it a fair fight, there are a total of six different weapons in the game - including a highly covetable dual-beam katana - along with 13 unique wrestling moves to master as well as exhilarating Tiger metamorphosis.

To further expand gameplay, there are two new playable characters: Henry, Travis's twin brother who was once married to Sylvia Christel; and Shinobu Jacobs, Travis's protege whose signature move is the Sonic Sword.

No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle also includes 8-bit arcade-style addictive mini-games that crop up in Travis's side jobs, providing opportunities to earn money for different items, such as weapons and clothing. And, to allow gamers to focus 100% on the action, the game also features a brand new and easy-to-navigate 2D map so they can jump straight into battles.

Developed by Goichi 'Suda51' Suda's studio, Grasshopper Manufacture, No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle is the only sequel the team has ever worked on, and Suda51 has famously named it the No More Heroes game he originally wanted to make.

"We're really excited to announce the official European release date No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle," says Martin Defries, managing director, Rising Star Games. "The original became a cult hit on the Wii when it released four years ago and the sequel is set to attract an army of new followers. The inclusion of blood also means No More Heroes 2 will be available in Europe the way the legendary Suda51 intended."

No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle launches on May 28, exclusively on the Wii.

  • Now I remember Rising Star giving the press release for the May 28th release date but stores are still carrying an April 30th release for the game, and that's quite awhile after Rising Star stated this. Obviously, you take the publishers word for this but it's just strange that it hasn't been changed yet. Anyway, looking forward to playing as Travis once again. First game, along with Zack and Wiki, made January 2008 a fantastic time. And playing Fragile Dreams is a nice softener before tackling some heavily action based gameplay.

  • Just get you a US console or mod your console to play NTSC, you could have beat this game weeks ago.
