More cards
The E-card reader, the MP3/WMA Player and now... a movie-viewer. What's next?
Nintendo of Japan will release a SmartMedia Card adapter for the GBA (SP) in May 2003. The device (priced $23) will read data from 32MB SmartMedia cards, which contains 5 compressed movies of each about 24 minutes, and show the contents on your GBA screen.
But that's not all. According to the plans, you would also be able to write specific data to your cards through PC. Jpeg images, bitmaps, etc would be stored and shown on your GBA screen.
Nintendo themselves will release some of the SmartMedia cards (prices ranging from $1.66 - $4.15)

According to the first few (Japanese) people who saw this device in action, the image and sound quality were above expectations. If this device will be a success, possibilities could arise to rent/buy full movies for your GBA (since the total capacity is 120 minutes). Whether the device will become available outside of Asia remains unknown.
