DSi XL launches in Japan
The newest and biggest handheld from Nintendo launched yesterday in the company's homeland to long lines of eager gamers, both young and old.
The DSi LL, or DSi XL to the rest of the world, was launched in Japan yesterday. The handheld is the fourth iteration of the ever-popular ds, this time attempting to bring the market to older or 'group-playing' gamers.
Famitsu.com reported lines of 50 to 60 people at the Yodobashi Camera Multimedia chain in Akihabara, Japan by 9:00 AM. Famitsu.com also indicated that the most popular color for the handheld was either Wine Red or Dark Brown, depending on location.
According the a survey of those in the queue, most of the happy shoppers were upgrading from the original DS or DS Lite. Apparently, the system sold well - though stock wasn't an issue.
We can expect the DSi XL to hit Europe and North america Q1 2010.
