ALL More Wii HD speculations

Despite only recently stating that "there is no Wii HD" in development, the President of Nintendo America has hinted that HD support isn't the only new feature that may be added to a next-generation Wii.

In a recent interview with Kotaku, Reggie Fils-Aime has said that when Nintendo "move to the new generation" it will be because "there are some fundamental things the [current] console cannot do".

This may point to the Wii's hardware and how it compares to other consoles on the market. Although the Nintendo executive said addition of HD capability to the Wii "will not be the next step" for Nintendo, he added that "there will be more to it" and that "there will be additional capability".

Quite what was meant by "additional capability" is unsure. However he stressed that these "additional elements" could take some time, hinting that if a next-generation Wii is launched then it won't arrive for a while yet.

  • So NOA mentioned the next console will do more than just HD, it has to do more than promised. Meanwhile NOJ mentioned that HD is only natural step of evolution for consoles.

  • ^ NoJ are referring to HD being the next natural step in terms of visuals. I believe NoA are referring the the whole package and not just the visuals, which is why Reggie has said it'll consist of more than simply HD capabilities. I still don't think there'll be a Wii HD. We don't need it, regardless of what people say. It's going to be the subject of my next feature so you'll have something to look forward to.
