WII Wii's price-cut also for Europe

Hold that wallet! According to reports, the earlier announced price-cut for Nintendo's Wii will also hit Europe.

Earlier today, Nintendo of America revealed the Wii's price-cut with $50 to a mere $200 per unit. Up to now, Nintendo of Europe has not yet officially responded on a possible price-cut for Europe through a press release. However, various sources already claim to have received word from Nintendo.

According to our sources, Nintendo UK has stated that Europe will also face a price-cut, but did not yet reveal how large that cut would be. Nintendo UK also said that a new Wii hardware bundle will replace the existing offering from October 2 in the UK and Republic of Ireland: The Wii will from then on come packed with Wii Sports, Wii Sports Resort and the Wii MotionPlus accessory.

Nintendo UK said in a statement: "We will be reducing the trade price of Wii to retailers from 2nd October 2009. In the UK and Republic of Ireland we are also introducing a new configuration of Wii hardware from 2nd October 2009 which will replace the current offering and will include the Wii console and Wii Sports with the new Wii Sports Resort game and Wii MotionPlus accessory. This will be available to retailers at the newly reduced trade price. The ultimate price to consumers is, of course, determined by the retailers. Our aim has always been to expand the gaming population and there are still many more people out there who have not yet experienced the fun of video games. This compelling offer will hopefully make Wii more accessible to everyone."

We expect an official statement from Nintendo of Europe later today.
