Wii price cut seems inevitable
Without official NOA confirmation, we're closer to knowing the truth. A recent Nintendo news service seems to have heard Nintendo say it firsthand.
Following a ton of scanned images indicating a Wii price cut and leaked memos, Nintendojo news reports a price cut is indeed true. Wii will be reduced to $199.99, starting 27 September 2009, and will include retailers stateside. The confirmation was made during a retailer conference call today where a Nintendojo news staffer was in attendance.
But can we take Nintendojo's word for it? We'll have to wait for corroboration until Nintendo can ratchet up their announcement of a $50 price cut. If the price change date is accurate, the announcement must be imminent.
We'll keep you informed.

But is it going to be enough with everyone else slashing price as well?
The Wii has a strong enough line up of titles for the end of the year for both the 'hardcore' and 'casual' camps that any price cut is only going to be beneficial. The likes of Wii Sports Resort and Wii Fit Plus are guaranteed to shift consoles this winter and I'd say even New Super Mario Bros. Wii will have a similar effect. Even if the price cut wasn't coming, the software line up alone would move consoles so this will only help.
