Shantae for DSiWare?

Developer WayForward has updated its Twitter feed with a curious message. Could we be facing Shantae for DSiWare?

On WayForward's Twitter feed, the developer today posted a new message reading: "Nintendo Power teasing a MAJOR DSiWare release in the next issue? AND it will make many gamers "very, very happy"? Hmmm."

Although the developer may not be referring to a new Shantae game, we've got high hopes. Back in 2007, DS-x2.com got a message from WayForward reading that "sadly, it looks like Shantae will never actually make it to GBA' and that we shouldn't "rule out DS just yet". Back in those days, we also asked whether the Wii might be a nice platform for Shantae, which was responded on with "we do still somehow manage to find time to work on Shantae between the cracks, but lately we've been experimenting with her on Wii, so who knows... maybe that will end up being her next incarnation."

With DSiWare, it seems plausible that the former GBA project and the experiments on Wii actually resulted in a DSiWare title on Shantae. For now, we'll have to wait until the new Nintendo Power magazine will hit the stores. In the meantime, why not follow our DS-x2.com Twitter feed as well?
