ALL Japan Weeklies; EA saves Wii?

As handhelds position the top 5, concerns over Wii sales bring Electronic Arts to the rescue, faster than an exercise sensor pad.

For May 11 through May 17:

Software

  • Bleach: Heat the Soul - PSP - 41,558
  • Growlanser - PSP - 22,981
  • Dragon Ball Z: Story Saiyajin Raishuu - DS - 20,256
  • Pokemon Fushigi no Dungeon: Sora no Tankentai - DS - 15,569
  • WarioWare Myself - DS - 15,220
Hardware

  • DSi - 34,152 units
  • PSP - 28,683 units
  • Wii - 15,116 units
Last week summed up:

Nintendo stock has changed very little over the last week and half. Slumping Wii sales and analysts' doomsday predictions have left Nintendo Co. relatively flat.

Electronic Arts believe they can do something to rectify that problem. They claim their new fitness game EA Sports Active will boost Wii sales, reports Bloomberg news. Said John Riccitiello, CEO of EA: "What we've been lacking so far this year is any reason to buy hardware. EA Sports Active may be the first software catalyst that can move hardware."

The exercise game went on sale the 19th.
