Business news ups Sony, Nintendo battle
Presenting a midweek business boom, rejecting boring, as Sony and Nintendo both win battles, the war goes on.
The PlayStation 3 outsold the Wii in Japan for the five weeks ending March 29, while in February; the Wii outsold the PS3 three to one stateside, the Financial Times said, citing reports by researchers Enterbrain and videogame marketing favorite NPD.
The Financial Times article goes on to state that Koya Tabata, a Credit Suisse Financial Analyst, recently reported the Wii's production cost could drop by 45 percent in a note to clients.
Presently, the Wii is still the power-machine of the current generation, even with last generation graphics. While Sony retools just to make even, Nintendo may have found a similar way to double current operating profit.
The continuing effort to balance the inevitable, persistent Sony vs. Nintendo m played out in midweek stock reporting. After a 4-day market gain, the Nikkei (Top 225) slipped with investors locking in profits amid caution over a massive stimulus package to boost the world's second largest economy, reports The Taiwan News.
Even amidst such turmoil, Sony stock held steady, and Nintendo was up 2.4 percent at Tuesday close.
The balancing act continues.
