Sony overtakes Nintendo in Japan weeklies
Sony software topped the 1 and 2 spots with DSi sales falling behind the PS3 at number one. What's more, the PS3 sold twice as many Wii.
For February 23 through March 1:
Software
- Ryu Ga Gotoku 3 : PS3 - 372,301
- Shin Sangoku Musou Multi Raid : PSP - 219,139
- Mario & Luigi RPG 3 : DS - 52,294
- One Piece Unlimited Cruise : Wii - Episode 2 - Mezameru Yuusha - 45,309
- Game Center CX: Arino no Chousenjou 2 : DS - 43,771
- PS3 : 36,513
- DSi : 35,827
- PSP : 35,588
It's no wonder Sony topped the retail charts with the release of two popular, fast-paced franchises: Ryu Ga Gotoku ("Like a Dragon") or Yakuza as we English speakers know it; and Shin Sangoku Musou or Dynasty Warriors. Franchise week continued with Mario and anime fave One Piece in number 3 and 4 respectively. Games Center CX is the second installment in a series of interactive environs for the sake of playing retro (Japan) classics.
Company stock dropped 6 percent at week's close, the same number as last week's gains.
