ALL de Blob sells well, THQ sees Nintendo as competition and more

THQ CEO Brian Farrell was at the Goldman Sachs Technology and Internet Conference just recently and has revealed a fair bit of information regarding where THQ stands with the Nintendo Wii and DS.

Think the de Blob didn't sell well? Well THQ's CEO Brian Farrell has revealed that the title has managed to sell over 700,000 titles worldwide which has surprised many thinking the game sold poorly. Along with good sales numbers for de Blob it has been revealed that Big Beach Sports, another Wii exclusive, has passed the 1,500,000 mark in titles sold making it one of the very few Wii titles to sell that many.

Along with news on current release titles THQ have revealed that they have an unannounced Wii title in the works that has been described as 'Very Focused and Niche'.

When it comes to the Nintendo DS Brian Farrell has said that they will be bringing THQ's biggest brands to the Nintendo DS, which could be a reconfirmation that de Blob will be getting a DS title. THQ also believe many new opportunities will arise thanks to the features found on the DSi, soon to be released in North America and Europe.

  • I enjoyed De Blob. Hope we get a DS version.

  • It's on the DS release list for Europe from what I remember so I believe it is happening. Personally, I just got slightly bored with de Blob. It was good graphically and musically but the objectives became repetitive and a bit of a chore to do when some levels took about an hour to clear, especially if like me you wanted to get 100% complete on them. Still, it's good that it's sold well and if rumours are true then there is to be a sequel on the Wii at some point.
