Nintendo to build new research, development lab in Japan
We know nothing of the next Nintendo console but we know where it will be built.
Nintendo plans to build new research and development facilities near its head office in Kyoto's Minami Ward to strengthen these operations, company officials said Tuesday. They also stated the facilities are expected to become a base to develop new game consoles and software.
Nintendo bought a 40,000 square-meter lot at a cost of ¥12.8 billion last December to build the new facilities, reports Trading Markets news.
The Kyoto-based company moved its head office to Minami Ward from Higashiyama Ward in 2000 but research and development operates at both sites. A Nintendo official said the company acquired the construction site but has yet to say when it will integrate its research and development divisions.
