Nintendo Pres to deliver keynote address at GDC
The 2009 Game Developers Conference will see the return of Satoru Iwata as headliner. Has he dusted off his crystal ball?
Nintendo Co. President Satoru Iwata will kick start this year's Game Developers Conference, a distinction he returns to after three years, reports GameSetWatch. The GDC will be held March 23-27 at the Moscone Convention Center in San Francisco.
"The Game Developers Conference is thrilled to welcome Satoru Iwata back to the keynote stage," said Meggan Scavio, Event Director of the GDC. "His previous talks at the GDC can be credited with setting the stage for much of the huge growth the games industry has since seen. We are confident that Iwata's keynote this year will be added to the list of memorable GDC talks. Attendees are eager to know how he will inspire them this year."
In 2005, he hinted at new technology for Nintendo's next-gen console (codenamed "Revolution," remember that?) In 2006, Iwata talked about "disrupting development," introducing the notion of expanding the gaming market. We now have the motion-controlled Wii and an ageless, genderless, casual game market.
Might Iwata give us a window into the future at this keynote address?
