DSi to be Released Stateside in April?

While it remains a rumor, IGN dishes the inside scoop on the possibility of a spring release.

Even though Nintendo's DSi hit the Japanese market last November, the handheld has yet to hit the shores of North America and everybody is waiting for an official release date. But if we believe our friends at IGN, they may know more than the rest of us. Citing several unnamed sources close to Nintendo, IGN said that Nintendo is planning to release the new version of the DS on April 4. But Nintendo has not released any information concerning a U.S. release date.

IGN also revealed a likely price for the handheld upgrade, suggesting it would retail for $179.99.

Currently, the DSi is selling very well in Japan, which makes it all the more likely that it will produce similar results in other regions.
