ALL More on the Creation of the Nintendo DSi

More details concerning the development of the Nintendo DSi have been revealed with such things as why no GBA slot is included, and the reasoning behind the inclusion of the SD card slot.

In a recent Satoru Iwata roundtable more details about the development of the Nintendo DSi, which is to be released this Saturday, have come about.

Nintendo's own Miyamoto is the main reason the SD slot was added. He felt that it was a necessary addition and he would be able to showcase why the DSi needed this later on in its life.

Many have also wondered why the Gameboy Advance slot was removed as the original Nintendo DSi prototype did include it. The reaction was that it was too bulky, so it was removed in favor of a slimmer DSi.

  • A report on Kotaku mentioned that some DS games are not compatible with DSi (freezing issues). This issue is unconfirmed.

  • Yea I have seen that, I think it requires the GBA slot in some way or in the code of the game it has something about the GBA slot which stops it from working on the DSi

  • I believe the freezing is intentionally included as a special feature. That's there to break R4DS.
