U.S. Wii Sales Spike 37% in September
September was a mixed month for video game sales in America.
While Wii sales spiked 37%, the overall market was down 7%, its lowest in two years, according to Bloomberg news. The Wii sold 687,000 units in September, compared to 501,000 last year. The economic slump has not directly affected American sales and the company remains confident of a holiday sales boost. October's numbers will shore this out.
Nintendo also led in sales of handhelds. The Nintendo DS sold 536,800 units in September, compared to 238,100 units of Sony's PSP.
