NDS Fire Emblem DS Title Revealed?

If we can trust on Nintendo's own translators and PR people, the name of Fire Emblem DS will be a mouthful.

Back in 1990, the first Fire Emblem title was released on Famicom (or: NES) in Japan. This particular title was titled "Fire Emblem: Ankoku Ryū to Hikari no Ken" which, according to the Super Smash Bros Brawl website, translated into "Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragons and the Blade of Light" even though the game was never released outside of Asia.

Now, 18 years after the first Fire Emblem title comes a remake of the same game for the Nintendo DS up to now referred to as Fire Emblem DS. In Japan however, the game is titled "Fire Emblem: Shin Ankoku Ryū to Hikari no Ken" (notice the "Shin" here, translating into "new"). Now even though it is not rocket science, Nintendo's translators came up with (and you'd better believe it): Fire Emblem: New Shadow Dragons and the Blade of Light. Brilliant!

Even though official confirmation of the title is still absent, one of Nintendo's localized press areas is already showing this full (english) title. For us, enough confirmation... for now.

  • Personally I think it should be: "Fire Emblem: New Shadow Dragons and the Blade of Light ultra GTX revolution generation X power remix'd: The new Adventure begins: Part one" :P
