Crossbeam Studios Cancels Wii Projects

Our colleagues from Cubed³ got word on Crossbeam Studios on their current status. We warn you, it's not a pretty status...

In the past, Crossbeam Studios announced three projects: Orb, Thorn and Midnight (formerly Darkness). After the announcement and the first few screenshots of Orb, it became more or less quiet. Until now, that is.

Following an article on Falafelkid's (a well known person from the gaming scene actually) weblog about a small investigation on Crossbeam Studios and the people behind it, our friends from Cubed³ got word from founder and head Greg Szemiot.

As Greg states at Cubed³, "I will not sugar coat anything. Falafelkid was right in his article. CSE has had many problems throughout the years. We were naive and perhaps arrogant, 'riding the wave of publicity'. [..] We also then announced projects that were merely ideas or designs at the time. The fact that those haven't panned out yet makes me apologise profusely to both my staff and gamers who believed in us and the projects."

From the article, it become apparent that (Wii) gamers should no longer expect anything from Crossbeam Studios. The company is currently focussing on a single project for PC. Those interested in reading more are of course invited to read through Cubed³ full article.

  It's a shame because from the concept art, it looked like we were gonna get some interesting games. But it was to be expected seeing as they set their sights far too high.
