ALL Big Brain Academy's Big Brains?

It's the Chouhan family from Leicester

The Chouhan family from Leicester have won £20,000 towards their children's university fees in Nintendo's nationwide hunt to find Britain's Brainiest Family. Mum Karen, 50, daughter Chhaya, 17 and son Amar, 10 out witted the Wilson family from Essex to land the coveted title.

Jubilant mum and charity worker, Karen said: 'It still hasn't sunk in yet that us, the Chouhan's from Leicester are Britain's Brainiest Family. We're both amazed and speechless! This is such an amazing prize and Chhaya and Amar will benefit so much from the free university fees.'

In a nail biting finale hosted by Catchphrase legend Roy Walker, the Chouhan family used their combined knowledge to identify, memorise, analyse, compute and visualise various puzzles and brain teasers on family favourite Big Brain Academy.

The family qualified for the London final held yesterday after breezing through their regional heat in Milton Keynes. The family decided to enter the competition after daughter Chhaya spotted the Britain's Brainiest Family stand on a family shopping day. The Chouhan's practiced whenever they could using Amar's Nintendo Wii console.

Dad Jagdish, watching in the audience said: 'We saw other families taking part and thought it would be fun but never imagined that we could win. Over the last few weeks the family has shared some great moments practicing on the Wii. We've all thoroughly enjoyed it.'

The search for Britain's Brainiest Family began in October with heats held in shopping centres in Newcastle, Manchester, London, Birmingham, Southampton and Bristol. Over 260 families took part in the competition hoping to land FREE university fees for their children.

The regional heats were open to everyone with all participating families invited to pit their wits against other families on the big stage to test their knowledge by playing Big Brain Academy on Nintendo Wii. The game includes various puzzles and brain teasers, before providing the family with their brain weight and brain profile.

Fame could now be around the corner for the Chouhan's as well as some of their fellow finalists as a number of families will be chosen by Nintendo to front their national advertising campaign for Big Brain Academy.

Dawn Paine, Marketing Director of Nintendo UK comments: 'We're delighted that the Chouhan family has been crowned Britain's Brainiest Family. We've seen a fantastic response at each of the regional heats from all across the country. We all know what an expensive necessity education can be so this is an amazing prize for the family. Big Brain Academy on Wii has proven a great way of testing the intelligence of families across the nation as it is great fun for the whole family : there's nothing quite like it.'
