New Functionality For DS?
During the past few days, rumours appeared about a "virtual console" for DS. Today, more rumours appear.
Last week, the latest edition of EDGE magazine read abouta possibly "virtual console" for the Nintendo DS. According to the rumour, Nintendo is planning to release a cartridge for the handheld which can be used to store online-purchased classic handheld games (think GameBoy and GameBoy Color). However, no proof of these rumours has surfaced yet.
Today, more rumours hit the net as the Wall Street Journal suggests that Nintendo is planning to do another push towards customers next year to keep them interested with the focus more on practical than entertaining. According to the Journal, no specific details have been released by Nintendo yet, but apparently Satoru Iwata said the features will be useful in places like train stations, amusement parks or museums and could be accessed wirelessly.
Whether or not EDGE is referring to a complete different plan or simply came up with bogus remains unknown for the moment.

Bought EDGE magazine and was reading this in it earlier. From the way the are plugging it in the magazine, it does sound genuine, especially the Animal Crossing thing. If it was fake then it would be a bigger mess than when ONM did the whole NiGHTS "exclusive" thing.
It's already possible for DS to get downloaded software by Wi-Fi (such as the GBA link system). The bad is that once shutted down the system the downloaded game is lost (same as with GBA). Maybe this cartridge for storage of such games isn't a chimaera.
