NDS Decathletes

Going for Gold in '08 thanks to Ghostlight

Ghostlight are on their marks and set to explode out of the starting blocks with the highly anticipated release of Decathletes on the Nintendo DS in spring 2008.

In an announcement that is sure to set hearts racing and adrenaline pumping, Ghostlight has confirmed that development duties will be handled by The Code Monkeys whose illustrious CV includes global hits such as Shrek, Treasure Hunt and Charlotte's Web.

Adrian Hirst, Development Director at Code Monkeys says of the news. 'Our goal is to create a highly realistic athletics simulator whilst maintaining a compelling pick up and play game style akin to titles such as Track and Field and Daley Thompson's Decathlon.'

Central to the appeal of Decathletes will be the immense variety of the ten gut-busting events and the innate need of man to compete and win against his fellow man. As a single player game Decathletes will be challenging and rewarding but once taken to the multiplayer level things will really get serious. Both formats feature a multiplayer mode with up to 4 players going head to head.

Career development is certainly not overlooked. Players will be rewarded for winning events in a compelling medal chase, unlocking famous stadiums and bonus events. Full character customisation will allow players to recreate their sporting heroes with mind blowing accuracy, selecting facial features, skin type and body stature.

Ghostlight's Marketing Executive, Adrian Clews comments 'Athletics is a truly global sport and is currently enjoying a massive surge in popularity in the build up to the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. This has provided the perfect platform to launch Decathletes and forms a strong foundation for a new leading athletics franchise.'

Sam Collins, Sales Manager of Ghostlight stated 'Decathletes is an outstanding title with huge mass market appeal and further bolsters Ghostlight's expanding portfolio of high calibre titles for 2008. We are pleased to be able to announce the release of Decathletes on multi-formats in all PAL territories, reinforcing Ghostlight's position as a major publisher in the global games market.'
