Betty Boop DS Announced
Well this is certainly out of the blue, Betty Boop: Double Shift is in development for the Nintendo DS.
Betty Boop made her film debut in a Max Fleischer short cartoon entitled 'œDizzy Dishes'? in August of 1930. Her character evolved, leading to a 'œTalkartoon'? series. In 1932, Betty starred in 'œAny Rag,'? and the world's first genuine female cartoon star was created. Betty's flapper style and sassy charm has captured audiences ever since.
'œWe're delighted to be working with DSI,'? said Ita Golzman, King Features Vice President, North American Licensing. 'œBetty Boop has been entertaining fans for more than 75 years, and given the popularity of gaming, we believe this is a terrific way to introduce her to new audiences.'?
'œIt's always exciting to see strong, female characters in video games, and Betty is the classic female cartoon star,'? says Alison Kain, DSI's Director of Marketing. 'œIt's exciting to take the spunk and personality of the classic Betty and create a very modern gaming experience. She really is a character for the whole family.'?
In Betty Boop 'œDouble Shift,'? players take control of Betty as she struggles with the daily tasks of running her own restaurant - for example, seating customers, taking orders, or bringing the check. Assist Betty throughout the game as she earns money to improve her diner and help revitalize the neighborhood. The video game takes full advantage of the touch screen capabilities on the Nintendo DS, as the user can easily move Betty around the restaurant using the stylus.
Betty Boop: Double Shift will be released in Autumn 2007 on the Nintendo DS.
