Advertising Watchdog Throws Out Complaint

Nintendo has been hauled before the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) after 17 TV viewers claimed that an advert for the firm's Wii console was "violent, offensive and disturbing".

The controversy was sparked by a Wii commercial that showed people of various ages playing different computer games and performing actions such as boxing, bowling, playing golf, bursting balloons, fishing and shooting.

  • I think Microsoft is behind all these complaints. Otherwise these exact same people would complaining most of the XBox game commercials as well. If killing one person on Red Steel was "violent, offensive, and disturbing", then what would blowing people up with grenades, tanks, RPG, AK-47, and hovercraft be?

  • "Very violent, extremely offensive, and horribly disturbing" I think people overreact too much. These people obviously just wanted to get some money the "easy" way.
