WII Sony: Wii An Impulse Buy

Sony claims the Wii is an impulse buy!

Two of the world's leading gaming console companies have been bad-mouthing each other. Sony has dismissed the Nintendo Wii system as an "impulse buy", while Nintendo claims it is selling twice as Wii's as Sony is PlayStation 3s. Sony has said that the PlayStation 3 is so much more powerful than a Wii that it should not be thought of being in the same category.

One point is that Wii has sold twice as much as ps3, and did't Nintendo already say that they are not trying to compete with 360 or PS3.

  • I'd say about half of all video game console purchases are impulse purchases. Heck, just look at what happened between PS2 and Dreamcast! We usually predict impulse buying with the amount of "hype".

  • Sony say that the PS3 is more powerful than the Wii. That may be so but it doesn't count for anything if you don't enjoy the games.

  • I played the PS3 in London on Friday. Disappointment. Graphics do not make games. And the gameplay was bound to be ruined when it has the motion power of a single nunchuk, not Remote.

  • Wii is an impulse buy? Well, the PS3 is a ripoff buy.

  • I was reading about this on another website. Basically, all that can be said is that Sony are a bunch of idiots. How can 4 million people and counting worldwide go out on impulse and buy a Wii? Just cause they cant sell their PS3's in America and Japan

  • Well if it is an impulse buy that means more units sold and more software support. A little bit like the DS being an impulse buy as opposed to the far more costly, and under supported, PSP.
