Metroid Dread Still In Development?
According to one of our readers, Metroid Dread, the rumoured follow-up to the 2D Metroid series which was said to be canned, might still be on the horizon.
One of DS-x2's readers, Mark Ralfred, informed us that Metroid Dread might still be in development. Rumours about a next installment of the 2D Metroid-series surfaced last year just before the E3 event in May. Nintendo however never showed any footage or spread information on the title, leading to new rumours about the title being canned even before the official announcement.
Mark however noticed that the first edition of the new NOM (the Nintendo Official Magazine), is listing Metroid Dread for a release in 2006 (TBC 2006 to be exact). Whether or not the new NOM is based on old information, or NOM is actually confirming the title still being on the tracks, remains unknown for the moment.
Thanks to Mark Ralfred for informing us using the news-submit.

Firstly, it's ONM. Secondly it was never actually canned. Thirdly, this is 4 days old. It's still in development guys.
Accarly it was silenced...
in reply to Ben: 1) it's how we got it in the mailbag. 2) that turns out to be the case now, despite the rumours mentioned above.3 3) I can remember seeing a newspost based on a 6 months old comment on a forum just yesterday ;)
It was a newpost based on the same day newspost another site made.
And if you would've understood the Dutch language written on DS-Gamer, and did the extra bit of research, you could've known it was based on a post made back in August 2005.
I don't speak Dutch.
maybe you should?
To get the latest information (and underground information), one must be able to read French, Chinese, German, and several other languages.
I can do Dutch (native), English, French and German pretty well. Chinese, Japanese and Spanish are often done using three diferent online translators plus asking a Japanese guy I know on occassion. For Nordic languages I can often understand part of the stories, but ened some translators to help me get the full picture in the end.
I love 2d metroid sweet
Well I asked Thomas (DS-Gamer)and he said it was new.
Even if it is in the works, I prefer the Hunters FPS style much more. That's just me though..
