Updated Nintendo DS price-drop to $129 in the US
Rumour: Cheap Ass Gamer reports that the DS might receive $20 price-drop by the 21st. Update The report has been confirmed.
According to Cheap Ass Gamer, there is reason to believe that the price of the DS in America might drop by $20 USD to $129.99 USD by the 21st, right in time for the release of Nintendogs. Their source seems to be a major retailer, but Nintendo has yet to announce anything official. Many bargins have been proven this way before but this is still to be treated as just a rumor until Nintendo announces the price-drop them-selves. If true though, this could be a great thing for importers who have yet to pick up a DS in Europe. We'll have more as it breaks.
Update - Nintendo has now issued a press release regarding the price cut that officially confirms it.
"The new price and the arrival of a mega hit like Nintendogs give Nintendo DS a one-two punch that will thrill consumers," says Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of sales & marketing. "Consumers know Nintendo offers the best in the hand-held video game industry, and this news should make them very happy."
Whether the price-cut will reach Europe or Australia as well, remains unknown.

Exactly why it's good news for importers.
Wow. Even cheaper than the PSP.
Nearly half the price of a PSP
Don't trust the Yahoo article. It has crap about the PSP. Too much crap. Makes it seem like the PSP was first.
