Australian Game Developer Krome cuts back studios
The Australian Game Development scene is shaken up this week after Krome Studios one of Australia's biggest development studios cuts jobs from all of its studios and closes one of them.
Krome Studios Adeliade office has been closed down completely, with the Melbourne and Brisbane studios having heavy cuts.
The news broke on Twitter earlier this week, with employees and industry officials posting their opinions on the matter.
Lylian developer Robert Dowling, was possibly one of the original sources of the news, tweeting; "Oh no, Krome Studios Melbourne and Adelaide have closed... 60+ people from Brisbane gone. So I'm told", "Ahh, still bad, but not 'as' bad... Melb Krome still going, but approx half got the sack."
Krome had around 400 staff just last year, it's been reported that over 100 people have lost their jobs in the resent cuts. Previously this year Krome also cut 50 of their employees and also some only late last year due to the financial crisis.
Krome Studios is currently working on the Xbox Live and PSN title Blade Kitten. The studio is also known for titles such as Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, as well as their own series Ty the Tasmanian Tiger.
