NDS Spectrobes - Minisite & Webisode Online

Our friends over at Buena Vista informed us that the first webisode on Spectrobes is available for public download.

Buena Vista Games, the interactive entertainment affiliate of The Walt Disney Company, announced that Spectrobes, the highly anticipated anime-inspired action/role playing game, will ship worldwide on March 15, 2007. Spectrobes is currently being developed exclusively for the Nintendo DS by Kyoto-based Jupiter Corporation, the makers of the bestselling Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories. Spectrobes is the first video game based on original intellectual property to be created and published by Buena Vista Games. The game will be distributed in Japan by Sega, and will be displayed in the Sega booth during the Tokyo Game Show, September 22:24.

The Spectrobes web site, www.spectrobes.com, will feature webisodes designed to give gamers insight into the adventures and characters of the Spectrobes world. Six webisodes are planned for release over the next six months, culminating with the game's launch. The two-minute videos will introduce junior Planetary Patrol officers, Rallen and Jeena, as well as reveal the intriguing story behind the fossilized Spectrobes and their mysterious powers.

"Spectrobes is an incredible sci-fi adventure that will inspire gamers when it's available in March 2007," said Craig Relyea, vice president of marketing at Buena Vista. "The robust Spectrobes web site will allow gamers to get updates about the game while the CG animated webisodes provide entertaining videos of the world that exists within this remarkable Nintendo DS title."

The story behind Spectrobes is the following. Faced with the daunting task of defeating the Krawl, a powerful force poised to destroy the galaxy, Rallen and Jeena must excavate, awaken and train Spectrobes, prehistoric creatures that have recently been discovered. Only by enlisting the help of these ancient beings will Rallen and Jeena be able to save the galaxy from certain demise. Players will progress through the game and complete their mission by training each Spectrobe, helping them to evolve and become more powerful. With highly customizable elements and powers, gamers can tailor unique Spectrobes to fit their playing style. Spectrobes, featuring the look and feel of Japanese anime and manga, will immerse players in its engaging story and fascinating characters.
