After the revelation of the Nintendo DS 'mystery port' (which turned out to be a headset port), it's time for a whole new rumour...

The guys from Dual-Scene were toying around with GBA flashcards (empty GBA cartridges that can be used for development purposes) and found out something pretty interesting. One of their cards trigger a special function that wasn't revealed yet: a rumble feature.

When trying to activate the memory while the cartridge was in the GBA slot, the Nintendo DS asked the user whether or not to use the rumble feature to accompany the alarm.

Since Nintendo already confirmed that the GBA port will be used in the future for Nintendo DS pheripherals, this could indicate that a Nintendo DS Rumble pack will hit the industry in the future. We doubt whether this feature will be very useful while using PictoChat, but we're sure there'll be a few racing games that will take advantage of the function if it's released.

  • It appears that several other cards and GBA pheripherals (such as the Action Replay) also trigger special functions, such as "There is a DS Option Pak inserted"...

  • Interesting, now if only one would trigger a 'You have a DS option pak that alows online play is inserted....' that would be great!
