EGM magazine asked a few developers what their plans for the Nintendo DS are. This is what they answered...

First of all, Toshihiro Nagoshi of Sega answered that Nintendo asked Sega whether they wanted to create a Super Monkey Ball game for the NDS. Nagoshi replied to Nintendo that Sega is interested in the idea.

Then Namco spokesperson Shinji Noguchi was asked for their plans for the Dual Screen handheld. Shinji believes that many gamers are almost dying to see a Baten Kaitos game on the Nintendo DS. He added that a cardgame like this would be perfect for the touchscreen (and that we already noticed when Konami introduced Yu-Gi-Oh: Nightmare Troubadour). Noguchi did say that he was worried about the battery and the price of the NDS...

Kiji Igarashi from Konami was asked about a possible Castlevania title. The answer was something along the lines of "probably a game like Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow but I want to figure out how the touchscreen can be used for this". Igarashi-san also added a small trouble from his mind: the touchscreen can become dirty if children play the NDS after just having lunch (wow... what excellent perception!).

Tecmo threw in Tomonobu Itagaki, the developer of games like Ninja Gaiden. He didn't say much, but one thing we don't want to hold from you: The Nintendo DS looks better than the Sony PSP (he said it, it wasn't me!) and he'll presumably create a NDS game.

Another Sega employee, Yuji Naka, was asked by Nintendo whether he wanted to create a nice Chu Chu Rocket game for the NDS. What he answered to Nintendo wasn't made clear, but he did say he was currently working on a completely new and innovative game named Project RUB for the NDS.

And finally, there was Yasumi Matsuno of Square Enix. According to him, the touchscreen of the Nintendo DS could be used a lot during play, but it would mostly come in handy for selecting options etcetera (just think of Final Fantasy games).
