WII Samurai Warriors 3 - Wii exclusive

Nintendo has announced that Temco Koei's Samurai Warriors 3 will be a Wii-exclusive title.

Nintendo today announced a unique partnership with Tecmo Koei to publish Samurai Warriors 3, the newest title in the Samurai Warriors franchise, exclusively for the Wii console. Launching in North America in fall 2010, Samurai Warriors 3 is an evolution of the Warriors series, featuring an innovative new game mode and a completely fresh storyline.

In addition to a host of new characters and combat and game-play elements, the game also will test players with new tactical and strategic challenges on the battlefield. Samurai Warriors 3 offers two-player online and offline co-op with enhanced sharing features. The game also uses a special new game mode that offers players unique control of characters never seen before. This game mode is based on the Famicom game Nazo no Murasamejo (The Mysterious Murasame Castle) inspired by Nintendo video game designer Shigeru Miyamoto.

 • They have added a lot of new mechanics to keep the game interesting and fresh, however it didn't sell well in Japan.

 • Call me a narrow thinker, but when Nintendo claims to "publish exclusively for Wii", am I the only one thinking that doesn't mean the title is exclusive to Wii but only that Nintendo publishes the game only for Wii?

 • Well I thought this was also seeing a release on the PSP/PS3 (it's either this or a very similarly named title). So I'd presume what's meant by "Nintendo are publishing this 'exclusively' on the Wii" just means that they are publishing it exclusively on the Wii, just as you said Dennis. Should also say, it's out in Europe on the 28th of May apparently from a press release I read over on GoNintendo.

 • Sengoku Musou 3 (Samurai Warriors 3) is indeed only for Wii, made by Koei and licensed by Nintendo. Sengoku Basara 3 (Devil King 3) is for PS3 and Wii. Hokuto Musou (North Star Warriors) is for PS3 and 360.

 • ^ Sengoky Basara 3 must have been the one I was thinking of then. Similar names really so easy mistake. Still, nice to see an exclusive from Tecmo Koei within that series of games seeing as they've mostly been on the more powerful consoles.

 • It's common, especially when there have been lots of spin-offs. Musou series by Koei is the benchmark for the industry. Basara is kind of more animated counter part by Capcom where all attacks are over special effected and look beautiful.
