NDS Catch-up Sunday - Hero's Saga

Here's one we missed a little longer ago already: Aksys Games bringing Hero's Saga: Laevatein Tactics to the Nintendo DS. Facts and screenshots-galore for the Strategic/Tactical RPG fans.

Created exclusively for Nintendo DS, Hero's Saga: Laevatein Tactics is a Japanese-style role-playing game with turn-based combat on multilevel, grid-lined battlefields. Players control a single character who commands a squad of soldiers with different weapons and abilities. Formations are a focus of the fighting, as soldiers can be lined up in different offensive and defensive stances. Various weapons can be equipped to change the abilities and appearance of the solders in the field. As the player's character explores the land, bravely delving into the most dangerous areas and facing the most fearsome creatures, he will uncover Vaettir Arms artifacts, weapons of great power.

In all, there are more than 180 Vaettir Arms to find, although the most powerful are well hidden and well guarded. Vaettir weapons are a key to unlocking new formations, soldier classes, and powers. The games story begins as the young prince Ernesto is given a mysterious sword by a strange girl, just in time to use it to fight off an attack of undead monsters. This single act of self-defense starts a war between ancient factions that spreads across the kingdom and beyond, placing the unsuspecting Ernesto and his noble heritage at the center of the conflict. A wireless DS-to-DS connection allows two Hero's Saga players to trade or share characters and items, or to battle head to head in multiplayer skirmishes.
