Title: Films of the Year
Post by: Andrew on January 06, 2012, 03:23:11 PM
I really enjoy a good film but last years quality offerings was incredibly thin on the ground. My favourites were:

The Guard
Drive
Midnight in Paris
Bridesmaids
The Artist

Did I miss anything?

I don't think I watched any new movies in 2011. As for 2012, already seen the new Studio Ghibi movie which came out this month (got the special edition bluray :))

Last good movie I fully enjoyed was Moon (2009) I think source code was last year? Then that.

Moon and Source code were brilliant and both directed by David Bowie's son.

Indeed. It's a shame he hasn't released anything recently or any word of what hes working on film wise.

I hope he ends up doing Mute at some point, but I don't think its his current project.

Oscar Nominations are out today and as I've only seen Argo I have to back that one. A great film.

Went to see that in the cinema as well. Funniest thing happened though: 3 people left 5 minutes into the movie. Seemed it wasn't the Sci-Fi they expected from the title *sigh*

Very bizarre. ~Silver Linings Playbook is well worth seeing too, if you get the chance.

Leave last year, this year is going to be totally awesome. The ones I’m waiting for are

Iron man 3
Fast 6
The wolverine
Hangover 3
Despicable me 2
Man of steel
G.I. Joe: Retaliation

I have to agree with Iron man 3 and The wolverine. In fact I have stopped going to the cinema for sometime but those movies made me go back to the cinema.

I thought some of the actors where very good but no redemption? A very odd message given the current world climate.
