WIIU No Tomb Raider for Wii U

The next installment of the Tomb Raider may of wowed us all at E3 last year but it seems that not all next-gen consoles will be receiving the new adventures of Miss Lara Croft and developers Crystal Dynamics have been explaning why the Wii U will be one console to be overlooked this time around.

No wishing to create a standard port of the game the developers go on to say:

"When we started developing the game we made a conscious decision that it was all about building the game for a platform and making sure the game was specific to that platform".

"Given that we've been working on the game quite a while before Wii U was announced I think it would not be right to try and port it across. If we started building a game for the Wii U we would build it very differently and we would build it with unique functionality."

  • With Square-Enix publishing/holding control of the license now after purchasing Eidos, could see them handing the game off to another team for porting because, as we all know, S-E loves to port their games so it's not a definite no (similarly, third parties have been told to keep quiet on software for the console until it's properly revealed at E3). Would certainly be missed as this is looking very, very good indeed.
