WII Donkey Kong Country will not Return again for now

At GDC, Nintendo producer Kensuke Tanabe claimed that there are currently no plans to make a sequel to last year's Wii game. Donkey Kong Country Returns.

Game Informer reported that a new title is not currently planned. That it took a lot of effort, and numerous years for Retro Studios to work on Donkey Kong Country Returns and that the company are not looking to cash-in on the success of the title.

This doesn't mean there wont be, Kensuke Tanabe says that he has been caught off guard in the past. "I wasn't even thinking about doing a sequel for Metroid Prime until Retro showed me the last scene in the game, which was near the end of development. I wouldn't say we won't do a sequel, but we don't have anything planned at this time."

With the success of the New Super Mario Bros. series and sequels, as well as Donkey Kong Country Returns. It possibly is to late to say never.
