NDS Activision Announce James Bond 007: Blood Stone For DS

Activision have today announced the development of a new James Bond title which will see a release on the Nintendo DS this holiday season.

With rumours having been doing the rounds for several months now, Activision has officially announced the release of a brand new title in the James Bond license. The new game, titled James Bond 007: Blood Stone, tells a brand new story within the world of Bond and brings with it the likenesses and voice talent of stalwart series actors Daniel Craig and Judi Dench while also introducing soul singer Joss Stone in her first video game role.

As well as taking a leading role in the title, Joss Stone provides an original musical track to the game, titled "I'll Take it All" written and performed by her and Dave Stewart of the Eurythmics. The song will be featured exclusively in James Bond 007: Blood Stone.

The game will feature an epic, original story developed by legendary screenwriter Bruce Feirstein, where players can engage in cover-based firefights, lethal hand-to-hand combat and speed their way through explosive adrenaline-fuelled driving sequences as they embark on a global chase leading to action on land and sea through Athens, Istanbul, Monaco and Bangkok.

"James Bond 007: Blood Stone captures the cinematic intensity of a Bond film by immersing players in an intriguing conspiracy that will require them to think and act like James Bond," said David Pokress, Head of Marketing for Licensed Properties, Activision Publishing.

While the press release gives details on the version which will hit Sony's and Microsoft's consoles, as well as the PC, no specific information was given on how the game will play on the DS and how, or whether, the game will differ from those versions story wise.

More information on the DS version is expected in the coming months so stay tuned to DS-x2 for more news as it becomes available.

  • Wii gets Golden Eye so other consoles need something too. However Golden Eye have the oldschool appeal, I don't know whether a new 007 game with standard gameplay will sell.

  • I'm sure a Bond game will sell whatever.

  • The last one that's based on Modern Warfare 1 engine didn't sell well at all.

  • Blood Stone is also for Wii- but its not announced yet, the 007 site had a boxart for it. But I'm more hyped for Goldeneye.

  • Press release only states PC, 360, PS3 and DS. No mention of a Wii version. Until it's announced, it's not coming. If it was, it should have been announced in the press release. Also, the official Blood Stone site doesn't have a boxart for the Wii version and it'd be more likely for the game to be announced for the Wii on there rather than the 007 main hub.

  • I highly doubt and hope it doesn't come to Wii, not because it sucks, but it's bad for business. Releasing 2 games of the same type on the same series will only split their own sales, making both game NDP failure. Just like how Namco were making 4 Tales titles and Koei were making 3 Musou titles at the same time. Each of the games are pretty decent, however when the sales came out each of them were way below expected.
