Cing filing for bankruptcy?
According to internet-gossip, developer Cing will be no more...
Our colleagues from TinyCartridge are reporting that Japanese developer Cing, known best for its Hotel Dusk title for Nintendo DS, filed for bankruptcy last week.
Up to now, we did not see any official word from Cing themselves, nor any confirmation about the status of it's Last Window-title which was still in development.

I'll clear much of this up from what I know from reading the sites etc. Cing has closed their website- its no longer functional for anyone. I don't think its going to be up anytime soon. All announced games from Cing have finished development last year, as Again and Last Window are already out in Japan. Last Window has been trademarked in Europe, and most likely Nintendo of Europe is working on a translation and will release it- but its iffy if they will not now, expecially considering it was never officaly announced for a European Release date. Even if Europe gets Last Window, I doubt it will see a release anywhere else in the Western world. The other Cing title Again is still on track for an American release date at the end of this month. As for if Tecmo will release the game in Europe or Australia it is unclear at this momment (Expecially considering THQ would most likely be the publisher of Again in Australia- its unlikly it will be released in OZ, but I'm pretty sure there is a Tecmo in Europe- so its likely Europe will see the game later in the year). The source of this information I'm not to sure what the site is- its a Japanese site, which lists stuff like that- it could be an offical Japanese site or just a fansite which tracks companys which have filed for bankrupcy. I'm not to sure- but its defentely going through with it as it was filed the first of this month. Cing sales have been very disapointing in Japan, Again for example only has sold 1k- which pretty much shows the fiancial situation even without knowning the other details. So it is safe to say Cing is in some trouble- and if they get bought out aka "saved" by Nintendo it is a possible outcome but might not happen- as Nintendo apparently gave Cing money to develop the sequels to Another Code and Hotel Dusk- which sold very poorly in Japan.
If you want some extra reading, this is what I've posted on my site: http://trinest.com/2010/03/08/morning-gaf-read-cing-shall-go-bye-bye/ and this is the NeoGAF thread: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=389518 and to top it off this is the soruce: http://www.data-max.co.jp/2010/03/post_9070.html
This was horrible news considering how much I love the Another Code series (although two games isn't really a series). $2.5 million worth of debt isn't a huge amount and I'm sure Nintendo, with their piles of money from all the Wii and DS sales, could easily cover it and buy them out to preserve the development team but I'm not sure they will. I'd love to see Nintendo get them as they have proven themselves great developers with Hotel Dusk and Another Code, as well as Little King's Story. Do the good thing Nintendo as they really deserve to stay around.
